Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up!



Notes should be coming home with your children to schedule a conference your student's teacher. Feel free to let the teacher know if you would like to have your conference with a translator and we will get one set up for you.

Also, don't forget that these days are early release days. Student's will be release at 12:20.

Meet our new ESOL team!

Welcome back to a great new school year at Sedalia Park!  This year we have a few new faces on the ESOL team.

Deborah Means is new to Sedalia Park.  She comes with so much great experience and is excited to work with our IEL students this year!

Anabel Fender came to our team from 5th grade and is looking forward to working with our 4th and 5th grade ESOL students!

Natalie Gill started with us in February last school year and we are so excited to have her back!

We look forward to getting to know you and your students this year :)

Dear Families,

As a reminder, the results from the ACCESS testing will be mailed to you in the report card envelopes in early June.  We are very hopeful for good results!  Please continue to send your child on time to school every day as the next few weeks are full of learning and fun events.  See the last post for dates and times for TEACHER APPRECIATION, CAREER DAY, and FIELD DAY.

REMINDER:  The last 2 days of school for kids are EARLY RELEASE @ 12:30pm (MAY 22 & 23).

Dear Parents of ESOL:

We are in the last stretch of this school year and there are several big events ahead of us.

- Art Day is Friday, April 27th.  We need volunteers to make this day a success. Thank you for your $2.00 donation for supplies, special guests, and events.  Signup is here.

- Last Teacher Appreciation Day is Friday, May 4th.  Please consider donating a few breakfast items or desserts on May 3.  Signup here.  This would be a great time to do an end-of-the-year gift for your teacher.  Reach out to your parents to go in on a gift card or something special for her.

- Career Day is Friday, May 11th.  The counselors, Lorna Parker and Bridgette Turner, always organize this day.  They have asked for the following vocations: a vet, a dentist, a mechanic, a plumber, a judge, and maybe someone in aviation.  Could you or someone you know in these fields volunteer to present to the Park children on that day?  Please let Ms. Parker (Lorna.Parker@cobbk12.org) or Ms. Turner (Bridgette.Turner@cobbk12.org) know if you are able to help in this capacity.

- Field Day is Friday, May18th.  This is simply a fun day because you get to play with the kids.

Tuesday, April 10 | Georgia Milestones Testing Begins 3rd, 4th and 5th grade will begin Milestones Testing on Tuesday, April 10th. Hello, Panthers!

ESOL/IEL packed up the ACCESS materials and we're back to working daily with our students.  For 3rd-5th grades the MILESTONES test is approaching mid-April, so test-prep will be of key importance, especially the writing portion within the Language Arts section of the assessment.

We have some wonderful acts lined up this year! Join us at the Park on Wednesday, March 7th at 6:30 PM as we showcase our own in-house Sedalia Park talent. The theme for this year is "The Greatest Show." Tickets are $2 each or $5 per family.  Come and support your friends!!

We celebrated the hard work on the ACCESS test with hot chocolate & donuts last Friday!  The kids worked hard on their tests, so we let them come together and celebrate.

REMINDER:

NO SCHOOL FEBRUARY 19-23 for FEBRUARY BREAK.  See you back on Mon., Feb. 26!!!

The ACCESS window is still open until March 3.  Make sure that your child gets plenty of sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and stays healthy (washing hands frequently).

Dear Families,

We sent home the ACCESS letter last week, announcing the window of testing for ESOL students, beginning on JANUARY 22.  Your child will take four tests (Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing) on four different days in a three week period until mid FEBRUARY.  Please try to be at school DAILY unless extremely sick (fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or other contagious condition like pink-eye or lice). Results will be sent home in the final report card in late May.

It is EXTREMELY important for your child to be well-rested with a healthy breakfast and lunch.  Some parts of the test are in the a.m. and others in the p.m., depending on the schedule of each teacher.  Encourage your child to take their time, not rushing through the test which is on a laptop computer with a headset and a mouse for 1st-5th.  Kindergarten students have individual testing with a teacher without a computer.
